Advent Euphonic Chorale (AEC) has joined the list of Filipino choirs who have recently raised the Philippine flag on international stages after taking home two championship titles from the 12th International Choral Festival Orientale Concentus in Singapore.
The award-winning Filipino choral group’s big wins come after the triumph of Cordillera Glee Club in Indonesia and UST Singers in the United Kingdom.
The Pinoy choir, composed of students and young professionals, bagged first place in the Folklore and Chamber categories of the international choral competition held at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Concert Hall and Esplanade Concert Hall from July 29 to August 1.
Advent Euphonic Chorale won the championship in the Folklore category with their performance of the “Kusinilo si Bao,” a composition by American Prize winner Nilo Alcala.
The Filipino composer’s works were also used by the UPLB Choral Ensemble in their winning performance as the 1st Asia Choral Grand Prix Champion. The UPLB Choral Ensemble also dominated the Orientale Concentus in 2017.
The internationally-awarded choral group also won the champion title In the Chamber category with their performance of “Shaffe in mir, Gott, ein rein Herz” by Johannes Brahms, and “Nativitas” by John August Pamintuan.
Advent Euphonic Chorale also made it to the Orientale Concentus Grand Prix finals and performed “TipTipa Kemmakem,” another composition of Nilo Alcala.
The singing group, led by Ray Angelo Capiendo, went on social media to express their gratitude after winning the two major awards in Singapore.
“Truly, the Lord is faithful! Being able to participate in the 12th International Choral Festival Orientale Concentus was both a great blessing and a great opportunity to share His love! Thank you so much for your prayers and endless support,” the AEC posted.
