Homegrown Filipino a capella choir Acapellago won first prize, while Pinopela picked up the 3rd prize at the Moscow Spring A Capella Festival held in May.
The two Filipino a capella singing groups won in the Medium Vocal Ensemble Category, hailed as best among 90 groups in competitions which ran for 12 days on 51 stages and participated by 195 groups from 26 countries.
The 5-member Acapellago emerged in first place for their performance which included a masterpiece from National Artist for Music Ryan Cyabyab.
Both Filipino singing groups first competed in the Akapela Open and have won major international recognitions.
