Masungi Georeserve Foundation Co-Founder and Managing Trustee Ann Dumaliang has been named to the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders (YGL) Class of 2025, joining a prestigious group of leaders under 40 shaping the world’s future.
Chosen from thousands of nominations, Ann becomes part of a highly selective global community of changemakers. Past YGLs include Jacinda Ardern, Malala Yousafzai, Brian Chesky, Mirjana Spoljaric, and Jack Ma.
The five-year YGL program will connect Ann with fellow leaders working in sustainability, business, technology, and human rights to collaborate on urgent global challenges.
“I’m honored to join this extraordinary group of leaders who are committed to creating a better future,” said Dumaliang. “I’m grateful for this validation of the work we have done through decades and the potential it holds—not just in the Philippines but on the global stage—as we confront the climate crisis with the urgency and groundedness it demands. I firmly believe that frontline experiences must shape global solutions, and I’m energized to collaborate with fellow leaders who are driving transformative change where it matters most.”
Ann’s selection comes as Masungi Georeserve’s long-standing conservation work continues to gain global recognition. Built on the vision of her father, Ben Dumaliang, and expanded through the Masungi Georeserve Foundation, the initiative safeguards one of the Philippines’ most threatened forest corridors through innovative conservation, community involvement, and public-private partnerships.
In 2024, Ann and her sister Billie were named TIME Magazine’s Next Generation Leaders for their bold defense of the Masungi landscape amid environmental threats and political pressure.
Her inclusion in the YGL Class of 2025 highlights the importance of grounded, local leadership in global biodiversity and climate efforts—and ensures the Philippine voice remains strong in international conversations.
