At 60 years old, Irene de la Cruz embodies the spirit of resilience and entrepreneurship. Originally from the Philippines and now residing in Los Angeles, California, her story is a testament to the power of passion and innovation.
After returning to the Philippines for a much-needed vacation, Irene found herself inspired by the vibrant culture and culinary heritage of her homeland. It was during this trip that the seeds of her entrepreneurial journey were born.
With a deep-rooted love for food, Irene decided to open a ramen shop right by her family home. Drawing from her experiences and the flavors she cherished, she started small but thought big. The ramen shop quickly became a local sensation, captivating the taste buds of both locals and tourists.
However, Irene’s vision didn’t stop there. Inspired by her grandparents’ cherished recipe for Halo Halo, a traditional Filipino dessert, she introduced this delightful treat to her menu. The combination of ice, fruits, and sweet toppings proved to be pure magic, and soon, customers were craving more. Irene expanded her offerings and began to open new branches.
Now, as she looks to bring her culinary concept to California, Irene’s children are eager to join her in this venture.
