Pru Life UK has teamed up with climate health tech start-up Humble Sustainability to tackle e-waste and promote digital inclusion, setting an example of sustainability with social impact.
Learn more about Pru Life UK’s commitment to creating meaningful change through innovative programs like the PRUBabies Project, which extended free insurance to Filipino newborns and earned Stevie Awards.
The partnership applies circular economy principles by reselling Pru Life UK’s unused IT assets through Humble’s extensive network of buyers. In just one month, this initiative has generated over Php 240,000 in revenue, with more batches of IT assets and employee-donated devices expected in the coming months. Proceeds are directed toward purchasing electronic devices for madrasahs (Islamic schools) in Mindanao as part of Pru Life UK’s Adopt-a-Madrasah program.
The Adopt-a-Madrasah program, which began in Davao City, focuses on providing critical support for teachers and students. It complements Pru Life UK’s Takaful operations, launched in November last year, to promote inclusivity in underserved communities.

“This collaboration with Humble Sustainability reflects our commitment to creating meaningful change by addressing two critical issues: electronic waste and the digital divide. By embracing a circular economy approach, we can contribute to a healthier planet while also improving lives through digital access and inclusion,” said Atty. Paul Mandal, Senior Vice President & Chief Legal, Government Relations and Sustainability Officer at Pru Life UK.
Humble Sustainability, known for its mission to return one billion items to circularity, ensures e-waste stays out of landfills while creating livelihoods for recyclers and refurbishers. Together with Pru Life UK, they’re fostering responsible consumption and bridging the technology gap in marginalized communities.
This pioneering initiative demonstrates how businesses can make a positive environmental and social impact, inspiring others to adopt sustainable practices and support digital inclusion.
