The Philippines has once again made history as Negros Occidental’s colossal chicken-shaped structure, named “Manok ni Cano Gwapo,” officially earned a Guinness World Record for being the largest of its kind. Towering proudly at Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City, this extraordinary rooster-inspired landmark now stands as a symbol of Filipino creativity and ambition.

Resort owner Ricardo Cano Tan shared the good news on October 14, 2024, after receiving the plaque from the Guinness World Records.

This is the first and only in the Philippines… We made history and nobody was able to achieve this. Kita pa lang gid (Only us),” Tan shared with the media.

On its website, the Guinness World Records described the iconic tower as “the largest building in the shape of a chicken measures 34.931 m (114 ft 7 in) in height, 12.127 m (39 ft 9 in) in width and 28.172 m (92 ft 5 in) in length and was achieved by Ricardo Cano Gwapo Tan (Philippines) at Campuestohan Highland Resort in Negros Occidental, Philippines as verified on 8 September 2024.”

The new landmark and world record-holder building will function as a hotel with 15 rooms and a sky deck. Its inauguration will be held on October 19.

Filipinos have been setting world records and bringing pride and honor to the Philippines in recent years.

De La Salle University Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) surpassed the Guinness World Record of China for the Largest Umbrella Mosaic formed by people in April 2019 with 3,099 people composed of Lasallian students, alumni, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Five years ago in October, the people of Sorsogon province danced a love and courtship dance on a five-kilometer stretch of the main street of its capital city to set a new Guinness World Record for the Largest Filipino Folk Dance with 7,127 dancers.

In December of that same year, the people of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, set a new Guinness World Record for the Largest Number of Living Figures in a Nativity Scene with a total of 2,101 participants.
