Lyceum of the Philippines University Batangas (LPU-Batangas) Senior High School students brought home 2 gold and 8 silver medals from the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Bangkok II Global Round, securing a spot at the prestigious 2024 Tournament of Champions (TOC) at Yale University.
Lycean students Ann Margaret Lumanglas (G11 STEM-Engineering), Shan Allen Kristoffer Beron (G12 STEM-Engineering), and Precious Nicole Calatong (G11 STEM-Medical) earned individual and team honors at the WSC Bangkok II Global Round from September 6 to 11. The Awards Ceremony held at the Siam Pic Ganesha Theater in Thailand witnessed Lumanglas winning 2 gold medals, Beron receiving 3 silver medals, and Calatong awarded 2 silver medals.
As a top-performing team, LPU-Batangas qualified to compete with the world’s best teams at the Tournament of Champions (TOC) of Yale University in Connecticut, USA, from November 14-20. This gives the team a chance to surpass previous TOC performances from LPU-Batangas and other Philippine schools such as Southville International School and Colleges and Grace Christian College.

The Filipino team competed against participants from 35 countries who had advanced from the regional rounds. The top teams from nine global rounds are invited to the final event hosted by the Yale International Relations Association.
