Filipinos can once again explore the wonders of the universe with the reopening of the Planetarium at the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) Central Office Science Garden Complex in Quezon City.
The 47-year-old facility, which underwent renovations, reopened on September 6, 2024. It now features a 90-seater space offering educational and entertaining shows on basic astronomy and the night sky.
This reopening follows the earlier launch of the state-of-the-art DOST-PAGASA Planetarium in Mindanao, which boasts a full dome projector offering 3D views of stars, planets, and other celestial objects. DOST-PAGASA also continues its free virtual planetarium events for science education.
The Quezon City Planetarium is open Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, excluding holidays. The public can check the PAGASA Central Office for show schedules or request group bookings.
Admission is PhP 25 per person, with a minimum of 20 attendees required for a 20-30 minute show. Requests for group shows are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To book, send a request letter detailing the number of guests, grade level (if for student groups), and preferred date and time to astronomyph.pagasa@gmail.com or astronomy@pagasa.dost.gov.ph.
The Planetarium is housed at the PAGASA Central Office, Science Garden Complex, Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago Avenue, Brgy. Central, Quezon City, Metro Manila.
DOST PAGASA Facebook posted the details on how to book the Planetarium for a group show.
