The Philippine flag and traditional attire of baro’t saya have inspired Nigerian-American model-director Wisdom Kaye to design a look for his high-fashion Olympics collection.
The 23-year-old fashion influencer took to social media to share his photos of the collection inspired by the flags of selected 30 nations that participated in the recently concluded Summer Olympics in Paris, including the Philippines.
In an August 20, 2024, thread he created on X, the touted “best-dressed guy on TikTok” posted a photo of him wearing an ensemble patterned after the Filipino colors.
He can be seen in the photo wearing a blue jacket, blue and white scarf, red and white balloon skirt, and a white clutch bag with a golden sun accessory similar to what is seen on the Philippine flag.
“This look takes inspiration from the color and design of the flag of the Philippines as well as the colors. It takes stylistic inspiration from the baro’t saya, which is a traditoinal [sic] ensemble worn by women in the Philippines,” the social media personality-turned-model explained in his caption.

Following the tricolor of the Dutch flag, this look takes direct inspiration from traditional attire worn by sailors in the fishing village of Volendam in the 1900s, which featured wide legged trousers, designed to fill with air and provide buoyancy if one… pic.twitter.com/p2zUiANi0h— Wisdom Kaye (@modsiwW) August 19, 2024
