Meow! This Adopt A Cat Month of June, we highlight the advocacy of sharing the warmth of your home with abandoned and stray cats. Animal shelters are filled with cats and kittens waiting for their fur-ever home. If you are passionate about animal welfare and want to find a new source of happiness in your life, now is the time to consider adopting a cat.
These fur balls dressed in various colors and patterns, will shoot Cupid’s arrows right through your hearts with their unique personalities and unconditional love.
Here are some adoption centers and organizations around the country that you might want to visit. You never know – you may find your soulmate with little paws.
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)
First on the list is the long-running nongovernment organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the humane treatment of all animals, The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). The center has been rescuing and showing care and love for cats and dogs since 1954, including celebrating World Animal Day every October.
The center ensures that all the fur babies are spayed, neutered, and vaccinated before they are adopted. The animal center asks for an adoption fee of PhP500 for cats – a small amount considering it will also sustain the needs of other animals in the center.
To meet more of their adorable cats, visit them at the PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center (PARC) on Aurora Boulevard, Cor. Katipunan Avenue, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. They are open from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Let’s give these adorable cats their fur-ever home.

Local governments are not lagging in organizing animal welfare programs, with Quezon City and Taguig City having their initiatives.
To provide a fresh start for stray cats and dogs, Quezon City took a significant step forward by establishing an Animal Care and Adoption Center last November 4, 2021. The initiative aims to rescue and rehabilitate animals found on city streets, giving them a chance at a better life and a home. Visit them at Clemente St., Lupang Pangako, Payatas, Quezon City.
The Office of the City Veterinarian in Taguig also supports the protection and rescue of unwanted, abandoned, abused, or stray animals from harmful situations that may involve cruelty and neglect, to find them loving homes. The office is open from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at #4 Model House, C6 Road Purok 1, Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City. You can contact them at 6397044743.
