Rico Hizon Hosts “Decades La Salle” Podcast Celebrating DLSU’s 50th Year

Award-winning TV journalist Rico Hizon is hosting Season 2 of “Decades La Salle,” De La Salle University’s institutional podcast featuring distinguished alumni sharing their Lasallian experiences and career achievements.

Hizon, winner of Best News Presenter in the latest editions of the Asian TV Awards and the Asian Academy Creative Awards, interviews fellow 15 notable alumni from fields such as television, business, entrepreneurship, government service, education, and sports, in 10 episodes of the Lasallian podcast series now streaming every Wednesday on YouTube and Spotify.

The new season of “Decades La Salle” was launched on May 12, 2024, alongside the celebration of 50 years of the University Charter Golden Jubilee with the theme, “Singkwentang Kwento: Five Decades in Shared Mission.”

First episode: Lasallian showbiz couple

The first episode aired on May 15 featured one of the most popular showbiz couples in the Philippines. Lasallian husband and wife and television personalities Iya Villania (AB-PSM, ’09) and Drew Arellano (BS-MKT, ’01) chatted with Hizon about their campus days as students, how they became a couple, their teamwork as parents, building their careers on Philippine television, work-life balance, and giving back to the society that welcomed them.

Veteran newsman Rico Hizon returned to the Philippines after 25 years of delivering the news to international audiences. The former BBC News Presenter joined CNN Philippines in 2020 until the channel stopped operations in January this year. Hizon now serves as Editor-in-Chief of GoodNewsPilipinas.com while taking on a new corporate challenge as the SVP for Corporate Affairs at SM Investments, also acting as Spokesperson for the SM Group of Companies.
