The Philippines is gearing up for a strong representation at the 2024 World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, from March 1-3. Competing against the world’s elite, Filipino athletes EJ Obiena, John Cabang Tolentino, and Lauren Hoffman are ready to make their mark in this global event.
EJ Obiena, the World’s No. 2 pole vaulter, will go head-to-head with global champions, including World No. 1 Mondo Duplantis of Sweden. Obiena’s recent achievements include breaking the Asian Indoor Record with a 5.93-meter vault.
John Cabang Tolentino, a Filipino-Spaniard, enters the men’s 60-meter hurdles on a high note after setting a new Philippine record at 7.64secs.
Lauren Hoffman, a Filipino-American sprinter, aims to excel in the women’s 400 meters, holding the latest national indoor record at 53.71secs.

The trio is part of an elite group, with 651 athletes from 133 teams vying for top honors across 26 events at the Emirates Arena. The Filipinos’ schedule is packed, with Hoffman starting on March 1, followed by Cabang on March 2, and Obiena’s pivotal performance on March 3.

- March 1: 400m heats at 6:20 PM
- March 2: 400m semis at 4:20 AM; 60mh heats at 6:10 PM
- March 3: 60mh semis at 3:00 AM; 400m Finals at 5:00 AM; 60mh Finals at 5:30 AM
- March 4: Pole vault finals at 3:05 AM
