The Philippine government has updated the list of official non-working days for 2024, offering residents the chance to strategically plan their holiday celebrations and long weekends.
This new guide includes newly announced special non-working holidays across various regions, commemorating significant founding and cityhood milestones.
These new dates are added to the official holidays issued through Proclamation 368 in October 2023 and integrated into the Department of Labor and Employment’s calendar. These holidays are in addition to the country’s regular and special non-working days. Recent proclamations detailing more localized celebrations have been added.
A series of proclamations (Nos. 465 to 477) signed on February 16 introduce new holidays:
- February 28: Tangub City, Misamis Occidental celebrates its 56th Charter Anniversary. (Proclamation 466)
- Davao City, La Union, and Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte observe:
- 87th Araw ng Dabaw (Proclamation 467)
- 174th Founding Anniversary of La Union (Proclamation 468)
- 45th Araw ng Gutalac (Proclamation 469)
- March 7 is a special day in:
- Samal City, Davao del Norte (26th Founding Anniversary)
- Basilan Province (50th Founding Anniversary)
- Tagum City, Davao del Norte (26th Araw ng Tagum) (Proclamations 470, 471, and 472)
- Special holidays in March for:
- Tanauan City, Batangas (23rd Cityhood Anniversary) on March 10
- Passi, Iloilo (Founding Anniversary as a Component City) on March 14
- Masbate (123rd Founding Anniversary) on March 18
- Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro (Sulyog Festival) on March 19 (Proclamations 473 to 476)
- March 21 and 27: Celebrations in:
- Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro (26th Founding Anniversary)
- Las Piñas City (117th Founding Anniversary and 27th Cityhood Anniversary) (Proclamations 465 and 477)
