This just in: 12 outstanding Filipino Americans using their influence to do good while representing their heritage have been hailed the first-ever Hall of Famers and given Lifetime Recognition by America’s first Fil-Am Hollywood entertainment podcasting show, Blog Talk with MJ Racadio.

If you were wondering why your favorite Fil-Am was not on the annual 75 Most Influential Filipino Americans (MIFA) list released Tuesday, October 18 – the answer is in the new best-of-list composed of 2 actors, 3 music artists, 5 show producers, a publicist, and a dermatologist – announced this Wednesday afternoon, October 19 (October 18 U.S. Time) over Blog Talk with MJ Racadio Facebook Live.

Racadio presented the 12 Fil-Am philanthropists elevated to the inaugural MIFA Hall of Fame after appearing multiple times on the annual list first released in 2014 coinciding with Filipino-American History Month.

The Hollywood blogger, himself an immigrant who traces his roots to Ilocos Sur and Pangasinan, listed the first batch (in no particular order) of the most visible Fil-Ams who use their influence to elevate the status of Filipinos in the United States:

  1. Bruno Mars – Grammy Winning Recording Artist
  2. Apl De Ap – Grammy Winning Recording of Black Eyed Peas/Apl De Ap Foundation
  3. Lea Salonga – Tony Winner & Grammy Nominated Recording Artist/Philanthropist
  4. Darren Criss – Emmy & Golden Globe Winning Actor/Recording Artist
  5. Hailee Steinfeld – Oscar Nominated Actress/Philanthropist/Peabody Awardee

  11. Fritz Friedman – Veteran Publicist of Sony Pictures/Consultant/Philanthropist
  12. Dr. Tess Mauricio – America’s Favorite Dermatologist/Philanthropist

Celebrity blogger-reporter MJ Racadio released the names to recognize the excellent virtues of Filipino Americans – the second-largest Asian American group in the United States and the third-largest ethnic group in California.

The Filipino American National Historical Society notes that the celebration of Filipino American History Month in October commemorates the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States, which occurred on October 18, 1587, when “Luzones Indios” came ashore from the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Esperanza and landed at what is now Morro Bay, California.
