Filipino taekwondo jins Jocel Lyn Ninobla and Rodolfo Reyes Jr. have barged into the top 3 and top 4 of the latest World Poomsae Ranking following their successful medal stints in various international tournaments.
Lady jin Jocel Lyn Ninobla zoomed 12 notches to the third rank overall in the female under-30 category of the World Poomase Ranking after her most recent medal-winning performance in the 2021 World Taekwondo Open Challenge Finals.
Ninobla, who also nabbed a gold medal in the first online Poomsae sports event held during the lockdown, now bears 56.36 points in her new standing.
National team standout Rodolfo Reyes Jr. leaped 77 spots to place fourth with 47.29 points in the male under-30 category of the ranking.
Reyes continues to shine in virtual contests and international tournaments even amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. He was a gold medalist in the Southeast Asian Games of 2015, 2017, and 2019.
Both Filipino athletes from the University of Santo Tomas are part of the Philippines’ National Poomsae team that brought home ten medals and special awards including two golds in the 6th World Taekwondo Asia Poomsae Championships in Beirut, Lebanon.
