Filipino actor Alden Richards has formally established AR Foundation to help more children get access to school through scholarships.
The television and film star has been quietly helping scholars finish their education for some years now. The new foundation he established with the help of his close friends will expand the number of students covered by the educational assistance.
Asia’s Multimedia Star revealed this good news in an interview with the media about this upcoming documentary concert entitled “ForwARd: Meet Richard R. Faulkerson Jr.”
“I really wanted to focus on education because, I think, that’s one of the best things you can give to a lot of young people. Eventually, they will bring (it) until tumanda na sila,” Alden told the media in November 2021 after officially registering AR Foundation.
The multi-hyphenate celebrity’s passion for education as his way of paying forward boils down from his own personal experience.
“Me, personally, I have experienced difficulties when it comes to studying. ’Yong gustong gusto mo mag-aral pero wala kang pera pang-aral,” he recalled.
“Totoo, eh… medyo hindrance talaga ang kahirapan sa edukasyon. Mahirap mag-aral kapag hindi ka financially stable,” the multi-awarded actor continued.
The prized GMA Network talent said the goal of his foundation is to help these unfortunate students with their schooling.
“So I want AR Foundation to be there… to be one of the tools ng kabataan, ng makukuha naming scholars, para at least marating nila ang mga pangarap nila sa buhay,” Alden shared.
At present, the actor-philanthropist is happy and proud that his advocacy on education has come to fruition by producing graduates.
“I’m really proud to say na I now have two college graduates,” he concluded.
During the lockdown period due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Alden gave out cash and gadgets to students for their online schooling.
The Kapuso actor also raised funds for the typhoon victims through his online game streaming.
The actor also made headlines for donating his “Bawal Judgmental” prize from Eat Bulaga to a cancer-stricken fan.
The AR Foundation will be featured in his upcoming benefit concert which will be held on January 30, 2022. Tickets can now be purchased at this link.
