Filipino horror podcast “Wag Kang Lilingon” has been named the Best Non-English Podcast in the 5th global Discover Pods Awards.
The Philippine podcast was announced among the winners of the largest annual fan-voted podcast awards in the Non-English Podcast category on October 19, 2021.
Hosted by true crime and horror junkies Grace Marcellana and Mimai Cabugnason, “Wag Kang Lilingon” bested runner-up Spanish queer podcast “Dos: After You” for the top spot.
It also bested seven other nominees in the category including local podcasts “Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast” and “Gabi Ng Bading”.
“Wag Kang Lilingon” is a Spotify exclusive podcast by Marcellana and Cabugnason, “two girls with an enduring fascination for the weird and strange”, who delve into tales of spine-tingling horror, mystery, true crime, and suspense.
The Discover Pods Awards recognizes the very best in podcasting across categories ranging from Best Overall to Best History podcast. Each year, tens of thousands of votes are cast by fans around the world.
Podcasting was showcased as a new media art form at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) multi-arts online festival “Tuloy Po Kayo (TPK)” in March.
The Filipino “PumaPodcast” series became the first entry from Asia to be archived by the U.S. Library of Congress’ (LOC) Podcast Preservation Project.
