Filipina-American model Kelsey Merritt is featured in this year’s Sports Illustrated (SI) Swimsuit issue, marking her third straight appearance in the iconic magazine.
The latest swimsuit photos of the Fil-Am fashion model, who made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2019, were taken in Hollywood, Florida by photographer Ben Watts.
On her official Instagram account, Kelsey Merritt shared her excitement with fans and said she is “incredibly grateful” to be part of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue which hit newsstands on July 20, 2021.
“I am so proud of the roster of girls in this issue, so happy to see so much diversity in every aspect of it,” Kelsey Merritt wrote in her Instagram caption for the stunning shoot.
“This is one of my favorite shoots with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit so far!” Merritt adds.
In a feature on the website, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue editor-in-chief MJ Day explained that they chose the 24-year-old model for her achievements and advocacies.
“Brains and beauty is our favorite combo and that is exactly how we describe Kelsey. She prioritized her education before entering the modeling space and her career has been full steam ahead ever since,” Sports Illustrated editor MJ Day wrote about the fashion model.
“Kelsey’s pride in being the first Filipino model in the SI Swimsuit issue is matched by her commitment to sustainability and her dedication to using her platform to inform and educate,” Day added.
