Filipino-American singer H.E.R. is set to perform “America the Beautiful” at the Super Bowl 55 which will take place in February at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida.
U.S.A.’s National Football League (NFL) announced on January 19, 2021, that the two-time Grammy-winner H.E.R. will be part of the pregame lineup with her rendition of America the Beautiful.
“Blinding Lights” artist The Weeknd will follow Jennifer Lopez and Shakira as the headliner of the Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show.
R&B sensation H.E.R. shared on social media that she will be one of the artists who will perform for 7,500 vaccinated health care workers in attendance for America’s biggest sporting event on February 7, 2021.
“I’ll be in Tampa Bay for the @NFL #SBLV to sing America the Beautiful as part of the Super Bowl on CBS Kick-Off Show at 6 PM ET. Make sure to tune in!” H.E.R. wrote in an Instagram post on January 20.
H.E.R. joins critically acclaimed and award-winning past America the Beautiful performers such as Yolanda Adams, Leslie Odom Jr, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Phillipa Soo, Jasmine Cephas Jones, and Alicia Keys.
H.E.R., whose real name is Gabriella Wilson, was born to a Filipina mother and an African-American father. Wilson is proud of her Filipino roots and was brought up embracing her mom’s heritage and culture.
The Fil-Am singer-songwriter won two golden gramophones at the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019. She’s also bagged honors at the MTV Video Music Awards for her powerful single ‘I Can’t Breathe’ and has already received 3 Grammy nominations this 2021.
