National Basketball Association (NBA) G League’s Team Ignite with Filipino star players Kai Sotto and Jalen Green will make its official debut in February at the Disney resort in Orlando, Florida.
The NBA G League announced on January 8, 2021, that 18 teams including the recently launched Team Ignite, will take to the court for the NBA Minor League tournament in February at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida.
Team Ignite, led by Coach Brian Shaw, will make its official debut alongside 17 G League teams.
Ignite’s elite prospects include Filipino-American Jalen Green, Filipino Kai Sotto, Jonathan Kuminga, Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix, and Princepal Singh who have been training with the five-time NBA champion Shaw in Walnut Creek, California.
Filipino standout Kai Sotto was recently featured by the NBA G-League in its team story series as he pursues his dream of being the first homegrown basketball player in the NBA through the G-League route along with Ignite teammate Filipino-American basketball sensation Jalen Green.
“This is a unique opportunity for our players to showcase their development while gaining a high volume of experience quickly against the caliber of talent they’ll face every day in the NBA,” said Ignite head coach Brian Shaw.
The NBA G League’s season is expected to tip off in February which will take place in a “bubble” at Walt Disney World. The top eight teams will advance to a single-elimination playoff.
