Filipino restaurant ‘Musang’ of Filipino-American Chef Melissa Miranda has been named the Seattle Met’s “Restaurant of the Year” in Seattle, Washington, USA.

‘Musang,’ a community-driven restaurant that focuses on the education and experience of Filipino cuisine, was featured in the November 30, 2020, edition of Seattle Met lifestyle magazine.

The Filipino restaurant was cited for its “stunning Filipino food” along with a heart-warming tribute to the Filipino culture.

The proud Pinoy business that gives diners the experience of “reliving childhood memories through Filipino food”, captured the hearts and taste of the Western community through the recreation of Chef Miranda’s family recipes such as her grandfather’s ‘kare-kare’, her grandmother’s ‘lumpia’, ‘sinigang’, and an upgraded version of ‘adobong pusit pancit’.

Musang also had the dish names in the menus written in Tagalog such as ‘minatamis na saba,’ ‘ensaladang taglamig,’ ‘isda’t mantikilya,’ and ‘malutong na sitaw’ among others.

Other mouth-watering Filipino dishes mentioned in the article are roasted chicken adobo, dinuguan, garlic rice, kinilaw, kare-kare, adobong pusit pancit, and tapsilog.

The Filipino restaurant in Beacon Hill has young Filipino chefs who share a passion for exploring Pinoy food and driving the narrative of it to the community.

Musang team expressed their gratitude on Facebook with a heartfelt message over their newest milestone that read:

“As @jjtiamson said… we didn’t start this place to win accolades, we started this place for our culture, for our community, for the need to take space and to exist for us…”

“We have built this place with all heart, with integrity, tenacity, resilience, and our blood, sweat, and tears. It has been a journey, one that has not been met with challenges, but also one that has been full of so much joy and so many blessings…”

“Musang as a restaurant is only the beginning. We know and we dream that this is far greater than we even can begin to realize. It is a community space, a healing space, and this is our home…”

“This one is for the town. This one is for all of us. All of us dreamers. All of us hustlers, grinders, and everyone that just shows up.”

Filipino food specialties are also on the menu of Cantina Sunae, a Southeast Asian Restaurant in Argentina, and at the New Dupont Circle resto in Washington DC which serves unique delicious Chicken Adobo.
