The home of the well-praised ‘adobo’ and ‘lechon’ bested nine other countries in the list of incredible destinations that “don’t get the exposure they truly deserve” published by Chef Pencil on November 12, 2020.
The country made it to the top because of its unique fusion cuisines, according to 250 professional chefs and foodies around the globe who participated in the poll.
“Places where you’ll find exquisite food, delicacies to savor or avoid, depending on just how gastronomically adventurous you are, and mouthwatering delights,” wrote Chef’s Pencil on its website.
Among the best-tasting Filipino food mentioned in the article are rice-based dish ‘puto bumbong’, ‘kare-kare’, Spanish inspired ‘adobo’, and ‘atchara pickle’.
Hundreds of foreign food lovers who chose the Philippines did not forget to bring up the “most challenging Pinoy street food – ‘balut,’ and wrote:
“And for the daredevils among you, it’s where you can try probably the most challenging of delicacies, balut. It’s a boiled fertilized egg that crunches as you bite in.”
