The Philippine tourism industry has kicked off another initiative by launching the ‘Travel Philippines’ web application to provide the latest travel advisories and safety guidelines to various destinations that have reopened.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) in partnership with inclusion tech venture builder HIMO Global Inc., launched the travel app on October 30, 2020.
‘Travel Philippines’ is the country’s official travel companion and was developed with user-friendly features enabling the tourists to book, plan, and explore the country’s prime destinations that have re-opened to tourists with “just a click away.”
The app allows users to securely store digital copies of travel such as boarding passes, hotel reservations, and medical certificates. It also works online and offline using browsers from any device such as desktop, tablets, smartphones, among others.
At the launch, the travel app featured six major tourist destinations that have reopened after easing quarantine restrictions due to COVID-19: Palawan, Boracay, Bohol, Baguio, Ilocos Norte, and Metro Manila.
The app will help tourists in “discovering whole new places featuring the best things to do, dishes to eat, and places to stay for a safe, and comfortable holiday,” said the promotional video of DOT.

“As we continue to reopen the country’s tourism destinations, Travel Philippines timely serves as every tourist’s official guide to safe and fun travel. With the ever-changing needs and challenges in travel brought about by the pandemic, it will help both domestic and international tourists have safer and more memorable travel experiences amid our ‘new normal’,” said DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
“Unlike other travel companions, we created the go-to companion for the traveler in the new normal, prioritizing ease in access to the latest safety information about their favorite destinations,” said Winston Damarillo, CEO of HIMO Global Inc./ Talino Venture Labs.
The features will be regularly updated with the latest information related to tour packages, tourist transports, restaurants, and accommodation establishments that have reopened.
