Filipino athlete James De Los Santos continues to dominate the e-Kata tourneys and picked up three more golds as he closes in on the World Top 1 Karateka rankings.
The karate champion won his 14th and 15th gold medals on October 12, 2020, at the just concluded 1st Euro Grand Prix eTournament and the E-Karate Games 2020 #2.
The Philippines’ bet defeated Luxembourg in the quarterfinals and Switzerland in the semifinals before facing South Africa in the final round of the 1st Euro Grand Prix eTournament.
De Los Santos then faced Brazil 🇧🇷 in the finals of the E-Karate Games 2020 #2 where he claimed his 15th gold medal.
The Philippines’ karate sensation James won his 13th gold at the Okinawa E-Tournament World Series.
The 30-year-old Pinoy athlete ruled the E-Kata Individual Male Seniors category, edging players from U.S.A and South Africa at the Round of 16 and quarterfinals before defeating Slovenia in the semifinal and eventually beating Matias Moreno of Switzerland during the final round.
The two-time Southeast Asian (SEA) Games bronze medalist also reported that his two MKKPI female students Julia Marcos and Fatima Hamsain of Maharlika Karatedo Kai of the Philippines International also won medals in their respective categories.
Fatima Hamsain defeated Denmark for the gold in the E-Karate Games 2020 #2 in the U16 Shotokan Individual Female eKata division.
Julia Marcos won the silver in the 1st Euro Grand Prix E-Tournament in the U21 Female eKata division.
Julia Marcos also seized gold in the Female E-Kata U21 and silver in the Female eKata Seniors while Fatima Hamsain bagged silver in the Female E-Kata U15 category.
With his recent wins, De Los Santos gets closer to his goal of taking over the top spot at the World Kata rankings. Currently ranked the world’s top 2 Karateka has accumulated 8,110.00, just a few points away from Eduardo Garcia of Portugal with 8,575.00, whom he beat in another virtual tourney held in August.
“The no. 1 spot is not far away,” the Pinoy karate athlete said in his social media post.
