“MathPlus” web and mobile applications developed by Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) for Filipino learners under the new normal of schooling are now accessible for teachers, students, and parents.
The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) funded project supports the implementation of the Philippine K to 12 mathematics framework and is built to augment the blended learning experience.
“MathPlus applications are aligned with the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) of the official Grade 1-11 mathematics curriculum of the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd),” DOST-PCIEERD Executive Director Enrico Paringit said.
The integration of the applications was discussed during the live-streaming event “Senso Eskwela Pilipinas (SEP) at Iba Pa” held from September 24-25, 2020. Educators can also enhance their teaching competencies through the applications which facilitate critical thinking and independent learning for students.
“The use of MathPlus apps in our division is not just a trend. It is an innovation, it is so valuable, it serves a purpose, it is very beneficial in improving the teaching and learning processes,” shares Resty Rodelas, Education Program Supervisor in Mathematics, School Division Office of Mandaluyong City during the webinar.
Interactive games and tasks developed by ADMU mathematicians and software developers are separated by strand and grade levels 1-11. MathPlus resources are available for download on laptops, tablets, and cellphones.

The Philippines is making use of technological innovations to prepare distance learners for the opening of classes this October.
Makati City distributed learner’s packages with OTG flash drives containing modules to support offline distance learning, while the City of Manila gave away free tablets, laptops, and WiFi gadgets to public school children and teachers, and Cavite rolled out free WiFi for its public school students.
