The Philippines’ karate online sensation James De Los Santos has claimed two more gold medals after dominating his two recent virtual tournaments and topping the World’s e-Kata No.1.
Following his fresh victories from earlier competitions during the first week of September 2020 where he won his 7th and 8th gold, De Los Santos once again emerged winner, this time, at the Hatamoto Kai Mitad Del Mundo E-Tournament and the 4th edition of SportData eTournament World Series.
The 30-year-old Pinoy Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) multi-medalist athlete shared the good news on September 19 on his social media to thank all those who helped and have been helping him in snagging his gold medals.
De Los Santos first participated at the Hatamoto Kai Mitad Del Mundo E-Tournament where he bested representatives from Ecuador and Belgium during the quarterfinal and semifinal, and cliched his 9th gold after he edged his Brazilian opponent during the finals.
The Filipino karateka then ruled the 4th SportData eTournament World Series where he defeated players from Norway in Round 16, from the Dominican Republic during the quarterfinal, and Ireland in the semifinal.
During the finals, De Los Santos again faced and bested World No. 1 Portuguese athlete Eduardo Garcia whom he first defeated in August to win his 4th gold.
“This tournament meant even more when I advanced to the final round against my rival: the world no.1, Portugal,” De Los Santos shared on his Facebook post.
“This is the fourth time I’ve faced him in a final showdown. I gave everything I had, and ended up snagging my 10th Gold Medal,” the Filipino karate champion added.
With his recent victories, the Pinoy karateka who currently at the Top 2 spot in virtual kata rankings earned 1450 points and now has a total of 7105 points. De los Santos moved closer to the Top 1 athlete Eduardo Garcia of Portugal who has 8125 points.
