Manila’s Rizal Park has reopened on Monday for visitors engaging in fitness activities that are allowed in public.
The famous landmark bearing the name of national hero Jose Rizal has reopened on August 24, 2020, as the capital city of the Philippines shifted to the less restrictive General Community Quarantine (GCQ) amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
GCQ guidelines allow exercises such as walking, jogging, and running in open spaces while following health safety protocols such as wearing PPEs and observing physical distancing.
The National Parks Development Committee (NPDC) allowed the opening of the central section of the Rizal Park also known as Luneta from 5 AM – 9 AM daily, with additional protocols.
To get inside the Rizal Park, guests are required to secure a Safe Pass check-in with a QR Code through:
- SafePass Facebook Page
- SafePassPortal FB Messenger
- SMS 2256722
The QR Code is a visitor’s lifetime access that can be used at any Department of Tourism-accredited location.
Visitors are encouraged to apply for a QR Code and Entry Request ahead of time to facilitate a smooth check-in process. Entry Requests are valid for 1 day, multiple entry/exit during park hours.

The Philippines’ famous landmarks and travel destinations are slowly reopening to visitors amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Boracay and Camp John Hay in Baguio City reopened to local tourists and residents in June while the Calaguas and El Nido Islands in Palawan and the Cagsawa Ruins of Mayon in Albay reopened in July.
SEND CHEERS in the comments below to Manila’s Rizal Park team as it reopens for visitors’ fitness activities under GCQ.
