The Philippines is enjoying 15 nominations at this year’s prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA).
The Philippines is vying to retain its two titles awarded in the 2019 WTA as Asia’s Leading Tourism Board and Asia’s Dive Destination and received 13 other nominations for its picturesque destinations.
The country’s tourism industry needs to gather votes from travel professionals and consumers to receive recognition from the WTA which seeks to acknowledge and reward excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
The Philippine tourism industry received the following 5 major nominations:
- Department of Tourism (DOT) – Asia’s Leading Tourist Board
- Philippines – Asia’s Leading Dive Destination
- Philippines – Asia’s Leading Beach Destination
- The Walled City of Intramuros – Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction
- Cebu – Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination
The following are also nominated under their respective categories:
- Abaca Boutique Resort in Mactan Island, Cebu as Asia’s Leading Boutique
- Beach Resort and Asia’s Leading Boutique Resort
- Discovery Primea Philippines as Asia’s Leading Business Hotel
- City of Dreams Manila as Asia’s Leading Casino Resort
- City of Dreams Manila as Asia’s Leading Fully Integrated Resort
- Luxury island resort Amanpulo in Palawan as Asia’s Leading Family Villa Resort
- Luxury island resort Amanpulo in Palawan as Asia’s Leading Private Island Resort
- Raffles Makati Residences as Asia’s Leading Hotel Residences
- The Farm at San Benito in Batangas as Asia’s Leading Retreat
- Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila as Asia’s Leading Serviced Apartments

The Philippines won its first World’s Leading Dive Destination award in 2019, besting eight other global dive destinations.
