Filipino news reporter Mav Gonzales, PBB’s Bodie Cruz, and Kapuso actress Ina Feleo have joined the LIGHT IT FORWARD Challenge to provide communities with solar lights.
The Light it Forward Challenge is Liter of Light’s newest campaign as the solar energy advocates continue to spread its message in the online world.
Gonzales, Cruz, and Feleo are among the popular personalities who accepted the challenge to build solar lamps in the comforts of their home.
The Filipino celebrities took to social media and posted their video challenge while educating everyone about the impact the LIGHT IT FORWARD will bring to communities in the Philippines.
Each solar lamp that the celebrity solar engineer builds will provide 12-16 hours of light to a family in communities without electricity. The assembled solar lamp will be sent back to the Liter of Light to be delivered to far-flung areas of the country.
Mav Gonzales
Mav Gonzales uploaded her video challenge on July 2, 2020, saying that building the solar light is her first vlog and goes on to showcase the unique features of the lamp.
Mav Gonzales is a sports reporter and a senior news correspondent on popular TV channel GMA 7.
“Alam ninyo ngayon na sobrang taas ng bills natin sa kuryente, makakatulong yung ganito kasi solar power hindi nauubos,” Gonzales said in the video.
(Since electric bills nowadays are very high, it (solar lights) will help because solar power is unlimited)
The GMA reporter also encouraged everyone to participate in the solar lighting movement.
“If you want to have your own light kits like this or if you want to donate, you want to help, just go to Liter of Light Instagram.”
After the news anchor finished the assembly process and successfully lit the solar lamp, she challenged her fellow news reporters to also join the campaign of LIGHT IT FORWARD.

Bodie Cruz
Bodie Cruz responded to the LIGHT IT FORWARD challenge of Mav Gonzales and posted the video on his Instagram on July 13, 2020.
Bodie Cruz is a former Pinoy Big Brother housemate and a TV actor. He is also sharing the spiritual light as he now serves as a full-fledged Pastor in Victory Church.
Cruz started his video by informing everyone of the advocacy of Liter of Light’s campaign – LIGHT IT FORWARD.
“This challenge was started to raise awareness of the millions of people out there who do not have access to electricity,” Cruz said.
“People are saying that the most important thing to have in this quarantine season is internet. But there are lots of people out there who can’t even power up a modem, or charge their cellphones, or laptops, or even light a bulb,” the actor and pastor added.
The Filipino actor advocates for the Liter of Light as an organization that provides low-cost but high-quality solar-powered lights to people who have little or no access to electricity.
Bodie also commends the features of the lamp which was made out of recyclable materials such as bottled water and PVC.
Each solar kit also consists of numbered wires and an instruction manual for an easier assembly process which will only take up for about 20-30 minutes.
After lighting the solar lamp, the actor challenged his family and friends, Ina Feleo and Slick Rick, to LIGHT IT FORWARD.

Ina Feleo
Kapuso actress Ina Feleo accepted the LIGHT IT FORWARD challenge of her friend, Bodie Cruz, and shared her video on July 21, 2020.
Feleo explains to the viewers that the solar lighting champion Liter of Light has sent her the solar kits to be assembled by herself and promoted the lamp’s durability that will work up to 3 years.
While making the lamp, the actress expressed her admiration to the organization’s campaign saying,
“This is a beautiful project because, in the Philippines alone, 20M Filipinos do not have access to electric current.”
After her triumphant lighting, the actress passed the challenge to her family and her celebrity friends Mike Tan, Chynna Ortaleza, and Charee Pineda.
