Manila’s drive-thru COVID-19 testing center in front of the Andres Bonifacio Monument is set to begin operations on Wednesday.
The City of Manila Health Department will open the testing from 10 AM until 5 pm on July 15, 2020.
Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso said that said the blood samples will be taken from people riding in vehicles passing through the testing center.
The blood samples will then be processed using COVID-19 serology testing machines.
The four testing machines bought from American healthcare firm Abbott are capable of processing 89,600 tests in a month.
The Manila City mayor also announced that the drive-thru testing will accommodate both Manila City residents and non-Manila City residents.
People without vehicles can avail of the testing centers in the following facilities:
- Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center
- Ospital ng Sampaloc
- Ospital ng Maynila
- Any health center near their residence
“We will utilize the recently-purchased machines. These have accuracy of 99.6% for specificity and 100% for sensitivity. This is part of our continuing massive testing, including every driving Manileño who will pass by Lawton,” Mayor Domagoso said.
The City of Manila has been innovating on solutions to address problems brought on by the COVID 19 pandemic including providing public school teachers and students individual devices and internet access for the new modes of learning and its Go Manila app for residents and business operators to avail of services online.
