World-famous Palawan in the Philippines has been named among the most popular travel destinations after the lifting of the global lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus disease.
The archipelagic island province in the MIMAROPA Region was named the Top 5 pick in “The 50 Most Popular Destinations For Post-Lockdown Travel” published by Big 7 Travel on July 7, 2020.
“Palawan is a popular post-lockdown location for a reason. It feels untouched, with white sandy beaches and tropical jungle. El Nido is a cluster of 45 islands just off the tip of Palawan that you can explore, too. It’s famous for the Secret Lagoon. Swim through a hole in the limestone rocks to enter a hidden bay with crystal clear water and soft sand,” writes Big 7 Travel.
The feature notes how people continue to wish and plan for a future that would again allow travel for leisure.
“While international travel is still a long way off, that’s not stopping people daydreaming about where they most want to travel to after lockdown,” says the popular travel website.
The chosen travel destinations were ranked according to overall popularity based on a survey of Big 7 Travel’s audience on social media and taking into account trending holiday locations on Google Search in the past 30 days.
“We can see that there’s a clear trend for post-lockdown getaways: remote islands, peaceful countryside breaks, and tropical paradise beaches,” Big 7 Travel adds.
Palawan is anticipated to be among the most favored travel destinations for international tourists in 2020-21.
Palawan’s Hidden Beach was also named in Condé Nast Traveller’s World’s Best Beaches in 2020.
The Palawan islands are also in the Big7 Travel Bucket List for the new decade released before the lockdown.
