Ilocano epic, Lam-ang top-billed by JC Santos is streaming online for Tanghalang Pilipino’s fundraiser this May.
Musical theater audiences and history aficionados who missed the stage production of Lam-ang will now have the chance to watch it at home while on lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus disease.
The musical based on the Ilocano epic Biag ni Lam-ang was staged from December 6 to 15, 2019, at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
The Filipino musical theater production Lam-ang top-billed by movie and TV actor JC Santos will be available for online streaming on ABS-CBN’s mobile app iWant beginning May 30, 2020.
Santos, a Theater Arts graduate from the world’s top 100 performing arts school at the University of the Philippines, announced the good news through his social media on May 25.
“Tanghalang Pilipino’s LAM ANG an Ethno-epic Musical will stream online (@iwantofficial ) on May 30!” the 31-year-old actor said on his Instagram post that came with his photo as Lam-ang.
The month-long online streaming of “Lam-ang, an Ethno-epic Musical” is part of the Pantawid ng Tanghalan fundraising drive announced by the Tanghalang Pilipino on its social media, also on May 25.
“This fundraising project aims to seek help for Tanghalang Pilipino to be able to sustain its commitment to providing the public with artistically excellent and socially relevant productions even during this pandemic,” Tanghalang Pilipino wrote on its Instagram post.
