Young Filipino celebrity Scarlet Snow Belo is putting her drawings on auction to raise funds for Filipino scientists in the frontline of the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
While parents, celebrity doctors Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho, Jr., are themselves actively helping Filipino frontliners by donating face masks, gowns, gloves, and even chocolate donations, Scarlet Snow opted to use her creativity in raising funds for Filipino scientists.
The 5-year-old Scarlet Snow first invited everyone to her fundraising art session titled Live Drawing With Scarlet Snow Belo #PinoyParaSaKapwaPinoy held April 11, 2020.
“Ask me to draw you something and I’ll do my best to draw it with love – for our frontliners!” she said on her social media invite.
Three days after, on April 14, the youngest-ever Philippine tourism ambassador posted her artwork and expressed her intention to raise funds via an art auction.
The amount raised from the auction will be donated to the scientists stationed at the Philippine Genome Center and Research Institute of Tropical Medicine fighting the battle against COVID-19.
“I have drawings from my live art session that my kuya @quarkhenares’ team is helping me to auction off,” the child celebrity said in her post. “The money that will be raised will go to the Philippine scientists at Philippine Genome Center and Research Institute of Tropical Medicine. They’re trying to make test kits and they need our help. Please comment below your bid for each one. My kuya will track it. Thank you!!!”
The child earned positive comments from her followers for showcasing her artistic side and for showering good vibes online.
Other artists are also showcasing their talent to raise funds and uplift the Filipino spirit in this time of global health and economic crisis.
The Art of Maku of Tarlac State University created illustrations inspired by Pinoy classic comics superheroes and Encantadia characters combating the coronavirus.
Visual artists on #ArtForMedPH have been offering free commissioned art in exchange for donations to COVID-19 efforts.
