Frontliners stationed at the Quezon City General Hospital were treated to homecooked meals from TV and movie actress Marian Rivera’s family heirloom recipe.
In a video posted on Instagram on April 2, 2020, titled “Menudo ni Nanay Ingkang,” the inspirational working mother of two kids was seen to be hands-on and wearing a face mask while preparing meals for the COVID-19 frontliners.
Marian, who is also a breastfeeding advocate, cooked the Menudo herself based on their family heirloom recipe. Her husband Dingdong Dantes, who is promoting work from home jobs for Filipinos in quarantine, helped her in preparing the rice.
The caption on the video reads: “Kitchen duties for our dear frontliners at the Quezon City General Hospital today who are sacrificing so much for us.
“Tonight’s meal for them is our family’s specialty— Menudo— a recipe that’s been passed on by my nanay. Big thanks to Ms. Joanne who told me about the Waltermart App and to Tough Mama for sending extra stoves. @toughmamaappliances @waltermartsupermarket
“Stay safe everyone!”
Fellow actress-philanthropist Angel Locsin showed her appreciation for the Kapuso Primetime Queen’s positive action. The real-life Angel and Darna also raised millions in her crowdfunding drive aiming to support the country’s medical sector through setting up sleeping quarters as well as additional tents for patients in overcrowded hospitals.
Other celebrities who showed compassion to those who are sacrificing to win the battle against the dreadful novel coronavirus disease include:
Actress-comedian Marietta Subong, popularly known as Pokwang, who has been preparing snacks for the military personnel stationed at the checkpoints and for the healthcare workers fighting COVID-19 at the hospitals.
Filipino-British actress Bela Padilla and Eat Bulaga regular host Maine Mendoza who set up their respective fundraising drives to aid Manila street vendors and urban poor affected by the lockdown to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease.
