Forbes Asia has honored Filipino world champion athletes Carlos Yulo and Margielyn Didal, naming them among the best talents in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia Class of 2020.
Gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo and skater Margielyn Didal were named among the 30 youth models chosen from among the 300 finalists.
The Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 released April 1, 2020, selected the two Filipino champions from among the 3,500 nominees that made it to the Best of the Best list.
“This annual roster of young entrepreneurs and change-makers packs a punch, with 300 bright and innovative leaders ready and equipped to adapt to whatever the future may hold,” Forbes Staff Rana Wehbe wrote.
“Their ideas and unstoppable determination to better the world is ample inspiration to stay hopeful,” she added.
Margielyn Didal
The 20-year-old Margielyn Didal started skating at the age of 12. She has competed as a skateboarder for Team Philippines, winning gold medals in the Asian Games and Southeast Asian Games.
In 2019, Didal won two Skateboarding Championships in Los Angeles, California on the same day, boosting her Olympics bid as the sport is being included in the quadrennial games for the first time.
She earned a strong fifth-place finish in the Street League Skateboarding World Tour in Los Angeles where she scored 21.2 in the final and beat former world champion and five-time Summer X Games gold medalist Letícia Bufoni.

Carlos Edriel Yulo is the first Filipino and Southeast Asian to win Gold in the World Gymnastics Championships help in 2019 in Stuttgart, Germany.
The Filipino champion gymnast has been featured on the 2019 World Champions series by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
Yulo won his first SEA Games gold in the Men’s All-Around Event in the regional games held in the Philippines in 2019. Yulo also won two silvers in the pommel horse and still rings during the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics finals held at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Carlos Edriel Yulo has qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Carlos Edriel Yulo is being given full support by the Philippines’ sports agency in their bid to win the nation’s first gold medal in the international quadrennial games.
