The short film “Basurero” starring ABS-CBN Kapamilya actor Jericho Rosales successfully made the official selection of Finland’s Tampere Film Festival.
The film first competed at the Busan Film Festival in South Korea in 2019, and now will represent the Philippines in Finland.
The actor himself announced that the Filipino film was included in the international film festival slated for March 4 to 8, 2020.
On his Instagram, Rosales posted behind-the-scenes photos and wrote: “Our short film Basurero has been selected as an official entry to the @tamperefilmfestival in Finland.”
The actor, who also advocates for sustainability with his Echo Bag for a cause, congratulated all those who exerted efforts for the success of their short film.
“Congratulations to our director Eileen Cabiling and the rest of the crew for this accomplishment and thank you for sharing your voice to those who cannot,” the 40-year-old actor said.
Filipino films have been making headlines in the international scene after making the selection and winning in various Film Festivals.
The movie “Yellow Rose” of Eva Noblezada and Lea Salonga bagged the audience award for Best Narrative Feature at the Hawaii Film Festival as well as Best Feature at the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival.
