More economic development coming to Agusan del Norte, Bukidnon and nearby areas, as the 39-kilometer Buenavista-Lawan Lawan-Boundary Bukidnon Road project that reduces travel time by 2 hours is around 64 percent complete.
The new road project cuts short the travel time to just 3 to 4 hours from the present nearest route leading to Impasug-Ong, Bukidnon is via Butuan City – Cagayan de Oro – Iligan Road and Bukidnon – Davao road that takes five to six hours.
Residents and stakeholders are looking forward to the completion of the Php 3 billion project which aims to promote eco-tourism, agriculture, and domestic trade in the Caraga region of Mindanao.
The Buenavista-Lawan Lawan-Boundary Bukidnon Road project has provision for slope protection facilities and road safety devices and also includes the construction of two (2) permanent bridges with a total length of 150 linear meters.
It involves opening and paving of the road from Buenavista – Bunaguit Road to the boundary between Region 13 and Region 10.
“The Buenavista – Lawan Lawan – Boundary Bukidnon road will serve as a direct link between Buenavista in Agusan del Norte to Impasug-ong in Bukidnon, reducing travel time by three (3) to four (4) hours”, announced Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos on February 10, 2020.
Other road projects that open more economic activity as they reduce travel time include Samar’s Basey Bypass Road leading to Sohoton Cave and Balantak Falls, the soon to be completed Mindoro Island Circumferential mountain road connecting Oriental and Occidental provinces, and the Marbel-Makar Road connecting Koronadal to General Santos that is expected to decongest traffic by April 2020.
