The Philippines’ bet, Angel Kim Samson Sarmiento, successfully raised the Philippine flag in Malaysia after being crowned Little Queen of the Ramp International 2020.
The 12-year-old model from Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija bested model contestants from all over Asia during the coronation night held on January 4 at Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia.
Sarmiento’s win marks the first crown won by a Filipina for 2020 and the new decade as the Philippines launches its renewed bid to be a pageant powerhouse.
Sarmiento’s fellow Pinay candidates also placed in the top winners of the pageant and bagged major awards in the modeling competition.
Ehra Denise Alcantara clinched the 1st runner-up title and Best in Evening Gown award.
Edlene Pascual snagged the 4th runner-up spot and was hailed as the Little Queen Icon.
Sarmiento, Alcantara and Pascual are all from Nueva Ecija.
The three Filipina teenagers join the list of Novo Ecijanos who raised the country’s colors in the international pageant stage such as Joanne Ayrra Averilla who won the Miss Polo International 2019 1st runner-up title in Dubai, UAE.
Dancel Jan Mendoza, on the other hand, won the Mister Continental International 2019 crown also in Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia.
