The Visayas region was hit by Typhoon Ursula (International name: Phanfone), during the Christmas season, leaving behind dead people, devastated homes, schools, agriculture land, and establishments, cutting down power, leaving them with no food to eat, no supplies to use, and no clean water to drink. Many of them are still in a state of shock and traumatized by the typhoon.
ABS-CBN Foundation went to Capiz after the typhoon to give gifts and the network’s anchor Bernadette Sembrano reported that the Lingkod Kapamilya volunteers were happily and warmly welcomed by the students and teachers of Pondol Elementary School in President Roxas, Capiz.
Students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 were the recipients of the notebooks, ballpens, and other school supplies while their teachers were given teaching kits by ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya.
Private and public entities have continued to address the needs of disaster victims in the Philippines, among them, Maymay Entrata and other ABS-CBN TV and movie celebrities who create Liter of Light solar lamps to provide light to the Typhoon-stricken areas in Sorsogon and the Department of Science and Technology-Industrial Technology Development Institute who sent out the “Pack of Hope” ready-to-eat (RTE) meals to address the immediate needs of typhoon victims.
SEND cheers in the comments below to private and public sectors who continue to make the Philippines as showcase of gift-giving to the needy!
