An affordable interactive responsive screen developed by science researchers from the University of the Philippines Diliman will soon be available in the market.
Tagged as Smart Surface Technology, the cheaper, portable, smart, and user-friendly device was created by Dr. Nestor Tiglao and his team from the University of the Philippines Diliman – Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (UP-EEEI).
The new product actually transforms any flat surface to an interactive “touch screen” interface that is deemed valuable to the sectors of education, food services, advertising, office settings, and consumer electronics.
The Smart Surface offers special features such as multi-touch and wireless connectivity.
The market release comes with dependable after-sales support, replacement, repair services, technical support, and content customization to give it an edge over already existing products in the market, and added value to its affordability.
Smart Surface V2, a software application, is already in the works and is intended to be partnered with the Smart Surface system to enable users to design interactive content such as quizzes and customer surveys.
The Smart Surface Technology won a gold medal award with jury distinction during the 46th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva (Geneva Inventions) held in April 2018.
Adapsense Inc., the spin-off company of Smart Surface, is supported through the FASTRAC program or Funding Assistance for Spin-Off and Translation of Research for Advancing Commercialization Program of the Department of Science and Technology Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD).
The team is currently processing the requirements for the SEC registration of the Smart Surface company in preparation for the product’s commercialization.
SEND congratulations in the comments below to the UP and Smart Surface group for their good tech innovation!
