Japanese brand Uniqlo is celebrating Filipino family togetherness during feasting, crafting, and dancing with new shirts designed by local illustrators Robert Alejandro, Abi Goy, and Liza Flores.

Robert Alejandro is the former host of Art-is-Kool television show produced by Probe Productions and is one of the founders of craft store Papemelroti. Liza Flores is the former president of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang INK), while Abi Goy is an illustrator at Studio Dialogo.

The Pinoy designs are part of Uniqlo Philippines’ new UTme! collection intended to celebrate the holiday season in the country.

Uniqlo Philippines presented their three new shirts on social media on Christmas Day, December 25, 2019.

The designs showcase the festive Filipino spirit during the world’s longest Christmas and New Year season.

In a media interview on January 5, Robert Alejandro shared that his illustration, in red and black design, was inspired by “how Filipinos come together cooking for Noche Buena.”

The Pinoy holiday-inspired shirts are exclusively available at the Uniqlo Manila Global Flagship Store in Makati.

Filipino ingenuity comes out any time of the year but often being showcased during Christmas season, just like the Cultural Center of the Philippines with their spectacular lights-and-sound show.

The University of the Philippines was adorned with Christmas decorations, with meanings inspired from the current issues of the country, during the annual UP Lantern Parade celebration.

While in Iloilo, the inmates were given the opportunity to be part of the festivities by assigning them in crafting the Christmas lanterns which were displayed all over the city.

SEND cheers in the comments below to the Filipino illustrators whose work showcase the Philippines!
