Casper The Friendly Ghost’s human form, Devon Sawa, made every 90’s kid from the Philippines go wild again when he took to Twitter posting praises about his stay in the country.
Sawa, who became every pre-teen and teen girl’s crush as he was revealed at the end of the Casper film as the human form of the ghost who had a crush on the character of Christina Ricci, is all grown up and is enjoying his holiday stay in the island paradise.
The Canadian actor tweeted on December 17 that he was going to the Philippines with his wife and kids, and a follow- up tweet on December 19 said he was already traveling from Los Angeles, California to Cebu.
Netizens quickly reacted to the announcement and sent welcome tweets and suggestions on how best to spend his time in the Philippines. A good number of fan tweets declared their crush on the former teen heartthrob and repeated variations of the famous movie line, “Can I keep you?”, which he said to Ricci’s character.
On December 20, Devon confirmed his arrival in the Philippines and added, “I’m coming for you Jollibee”, referring to the popular homegrown restaurant famous for its Chicken Joy and other meal items.
The Philippines is stunning. Absolutely breathtaking. I’m only three days in, but WOW. What a place.

Finally, on December 22, Devon tweeted about his experience with Jollibee in the Philippines saying, “Jollibee is wild, man. You can get a burger steak, spaghetti, fried chicken, rice and gravy in one meal. Place is jammed, too.”
Devon Sawa tweeted from Cebu on December 23 with his praises for the Philippines.
“The Philippines is stunning. Absolutely breathtaking. I’m only three days in, but WOW. What a place,” the celebrity declared.
Sawa also appreciated the simple road system he encountered: “I love all the intersections here in the Philippines. Easy to cross the street over here. You just cross the street. No underground maze to deal with. I mean you may run into the odd cranky rooster but other than that, corner to corner, nothing else to it.”
Early December 24, Sawa tweeted his thanks to Huni Hotel at Lio Beach in El Nido, Palawan, saying, “Beautiful stay.”
Devon’s appearance in the 1995 hit film Casper earned him praises and launched his career as an actor. The Canadian continues to act and is more recently known for portraying the character of Alex Browning in the supernatural horror film, Final Destination. He also recently starred as an actor who is stalked by an obsessive fan played by John Travolta in the film, The Fanatic.
While we swooned over Devon’s Casper in the 90’s, it is our turn now to have him swoon over the beauty of the Philippines and what we have to offer.
Jollibee has also enchanted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who visited the restaurant’s first Jollibee store.
Palawan is a perennial World’s Best Island choice of travelers for its Subterranean Underground River and diving attractions, along with Cebu.
