Technology leader Dr. Maria Beebe was honored with the prestigious Most Influential Filipina Woman in the World Award in Paris, France.
Dr. Beebe was recognized by the San Francisco-based advocacy organization of Filipina Women’s Network (FWN) as a Continuing Influential Innovator & Thought Leader awardee in the Gala Awards Ceremony at the 16th Filipina Leadership Global Summit held from October 28 – November 2, 2019.
Beebe was selected from an outstanding field of nominees from around the world and named as one of the recipients of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World Awards which recognizes “women of Philippine ancestry who are changing the face of leadership in the global workplace, having reached status for outstanding work in their respective fields and are recognized for their contributions to society, femtorship, and legacy.”
The United States-based educator was honored “for her body of work that weaves together 20 plus years of global engagement experience and research interests in critical discourse analysis, women’s leadership, and information, communication technologies (ICT) for development.” She has an M.A. in Social Science and a Ph.D. in Education from Stanford University.
Among Dr. Maria Beebe’s projects and credentials are:
- President of Global Networks
- Co-founder of TechWomen.Asia, along with Omar Mansoor Ansari, TechNation CEO, as a social enterprise to advance women in technology
- Partners with Emmanuel Lallana, Ph.D., IdeaCorp and Derek Keats, Ph.D., Kenga Solutions, for the ideation phase of a solar-powered tablet with digital resources for use in blended learning in schools at low resource environments
- Department of Anthropology affiliate at Portland State University, researching diaspora leadership
- Editor of the FWN leadership book series (DISRUPT 1.0. Filipina Women: Proud. Loud. Leading without a Doubt, DISRUPT 2.0. Filipina Women: Daring to Lead, and, DISRUPT 3.0. Filipina Women: Rising)

Maria Beebe joins the honoree’s list of the FWN which had previously awarded the Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo, Cebu Governor and former Philippines House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Gwen Garcia, Utah Valley University President Astrid S. Tuminez, and TIME Person of the Year and Rappler’s CEO Maria Ressa.
