Filipina Starbucks Cafe manager Mae Anne Olmidillo was honored by the Dubai Police after returning a bag that contained valuables including Dh195,000 in cash.
Olmidillo, an overseas Filipino worker with two children, together with a colleague found the bag in Starbucks in Reel Cinemas at the Dubai Mall.
They reported the found bag to their district manager and lost prevention department which then turned over the item to the Dubai Police.
The found bag contained the Dh195,000 cash, cheques for Dh500,000 and Dh6,250, a cheque book, and personal documents.
Bur Dubai Police Station’s acting director Colonel Rashid Mohammed Saleh Al-Shehhi, praised Olmidillo for her honesty as a police team visited the Filipina cafe manager.
The Dubai Police recognition is part of the “We reach you to thank you” initiative which acknowledges external collaborators at their workplace among colleagues.
“I didn’t for a moment have any second thoughts about the bag. If I do good to others, good things will happen to me,” said Olmidillo in a Gulf News report on September 8.
Mae Anne Olmidillo is the latest addition to the list of Filipino workers whose honesty at work have been praised by foreign nationals, including airport workers, taxi drivers, and maintenance workers.
