Pinay jin Jenna Kaila Napolis won a Gold Medal at the 2019 World Martial Arts Mastership Games held in Chungju, South Korea.
Napolis scored her medal in the Adults Jiu-Jitsu Female -52kg division besting 7 other competitors including runner up medallists Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, and host country Korea.
Napolis’ gold is the first medal win for Team Philippines at what is touted as the Martial Arts Olympics where more than 2,400 athletes from 106 countries are currently vying for 271 gold medals in 20 martial arts categories such as belt wrestling, Judo, Taekwondo, and horseback archery.
Jiu-Jitsu Federation of the Philippines (JJFP) is leading the Philippine jins competing at the 2019 World Martial Arts Masterships Games being held until September 6 at the Konkuk University Glocal Campus in Chungju, east of South Korea’s capital Seoul.
Napolis and Team Philippines are in South Korea as part of their preparations for the 30th South East Asian Games to be held in the Philippines from November 30-December 11, 2019.
Filipino martial artists recently nabbed golds at the Ju-Jitsu Open Grand Prix in Thailand, in Muaythai Championships in Hong Kong, and at the Sambo Championships in Indonesia.
