The Kathryn Bernardo-Alden Richards movie, “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” has soared to the Top 2 spot of the highest-grossing films in Philippine box office history within weeks of its release.
The debut movie of the local film industry’s newest tandem, dubbed KathDen, was released on July 31, 2019 and has since raked in gross sales of Php838,514,653.70 worldwide as of August 23.
“Hello, Love, Goodbye,” directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, tells the story of two Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in Hong Kong – Joy played by Kathryn Bernardo and Ethan played by Alden Richards.
Joy is a hardworking Filipino domestic helper who is preparing to move to Canada for better living conditions and opportunities to support her family. Joy meets Ethan, a bartender, and the two start a relationship that reveals the highs and lows of OFW life.
The StarCinema movie “Hello, Love, Goodbye” also made history as the first pairing of Bernardo and Richards, top actors from the country’s two rival television networks who were popularly known with their respective loveteams.
Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awardee Kathryn Bernardo is the other half of onscreen love team KathNiel with equally popular actor Daniel Padilla from ABS-CBN.
Award-winning actor Alden Richards’ TV partnership with the phenomenal star Yaya Dub Maine Mendoza is known as AlDub of GMA-7’s Eat Bulaga.
KathDen’s movie is also the first Filipino-made film to be screened at the Dubai Opera in United Arab Emirates. The record-breaking film is also considered as the highest-grossing Filipino film in the Middle East, earning more than one million dollars by August 18.
“Hello, Love, Goodbye” is just Php77 million away from grabbing the number 1 spot of the highest-grossing Pinoy film – the 2018 movie “The Hows of Us” which also topbilled Kathryn Bernardo and love team Daniel Padilla. The production is just awaiting the ticket sales report from different parts of the Asia Pacific region such as Australia, Brunei, Guam, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Saipan.
Canada, Taiwan, Singapore, and the USA have also extended the showing of the block buster movie.
