Philippine Science High School Eastern Visayas Tacloban – Eastern Visayas Campus students bagged a Silver win at the first international competition of LEGO robotics in Romania.
Team Pisay EVC Robotics emerged in the Top 2 of the Open High School Category with their Sumo-bot entry at the iZoom Arena STEM, Robotics, and Gaming Festival held in Bucharest on August 9-10.
The state school’s Sumo-bot is an autonomous robot that plays a sparring match of Lego Mindstorms sets (NXT or EV3). The Filipino students’ robot performed excellently as it played independently and eventually emerged with a Silver finish at the end of the tournament.
The winning Pisay EVC Robotics team of Israel John Peñalosa, Dunn Zander Alpar, and Niel Dustin Benedict Agner was coached by Vinci Gabumpa.
Philippine schools have been garnering medals from various international Robotics tournaments including a Gold for Dr. Yanga’s Colleges at the World Robot Olympiad in Denmark, Gold at the FIRST LEGO League Open in Turkey, and a Silver at the FIRST LEGO League in Australia.
