Filipina Jiu Jitsu Meggie Ochoa has won the first Philippine gold from the 4th Jiu Jitsu Asian Championships in Mongolia.
Meggie Ochoa, who also won the country’s first gold at the 2018 JiuJitsu World Championships, won her four matches in Ulaanbaatar to bag the gold medal in the women’s -45-kilogram division.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu Jitsu World Tour gold medalist secured the gold medal in the championships after leaving behind United Arab Emirates’ Alyafei Wadimah.
Ochoa’s teammates Jollirine Co and Annie Ramirez won the silver medal in the -48-kilogram and -57-kilogram brackets, respectively.
Andrea Lao also settled for the silver medal in the championship match of the women’s -63-kilogram division.
Meanwhile, Kimberly Custodio and Kaila Napolis bagged the bronze medal in the -48-kilogram and -52-kilogram divisions, respectively.
Carlo Peña completed the seven medals of the Philippine team after snatching the silver medal in the male -56-kilogram category.
The Filipino Jiu Jitsu competed in the 4th Jiu Jitsu Asian Championships held July 14 to 22 in preparation for the 30th Southeast Asian Games which will take place in the Philippines from November 30 to December 11, 2019.
