Dante Basco, reputed to be the first Filipino-American actor to make it to Hollywood, will be releasing his autobiography this 2019.
Basco’s book takes off from his known voice acting roles as Peter Pan’s sidekick “Rufio” in Steven Spielberg’s “Hook,” and as “Zuko” from Nickelodeon’s phenomenal hit “Avatar: The Last Airbender,”
Basco is currently collaborating with Tapas Media to turn the Filipino youth culture web-comic series “Kids Being Kids” into a full movie. The Fil-Am actor was also in Manila as a featured speaker at the TOYCON PH in 2018.
Basco has been in the film industry for three decades and has become a pioneering figure in Asian-American cinema. His performances earned him the fame and praises that attracted film and television industry movers to give him leading roles such as in Newline’s Take the Lead, opposite Antonio Banderas, and his own series on 20th Century Fox’s Touchstone/ABC’s The Chang Family Saves the World.
Notacult Media announced the release of “From Rufio to Zuko” as a memoir detailing the life and work of Dante Basco. “Basco takes us behind the scenes of his earliest projects, sharing personal examinations of his life on the set of Hook, through his second rise as a cultural icon as Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Throughout his career as a ‘working class’ actor of Filipino heritage, Basco outlines how his family and culture play a crucial role in the foundation of his work and his focus for the future.”
Dante went on social media to confirm the release of his autobiography saying, “I can’t lie, I’m little scared… or at least feel vulnerable in this whole process, @notacult.media approached me about telling my story.
It’s been over 30 years now, in Hollywood & I hope my trials & tribulations can help anyone out there navigate through this industry… and I’ll also get to celebrate some of the good things I’ve done.”
From Rufio to Zuko is now available from pre-orders through http://notacult.media/Rufio, with the first 500 sold to be signed and personalized by Dante Basco.
From Rufio to Zuko, the autobiography of Dante Basco with two cover variations – the Lost Boys edition & the Fire Nation edition – will be released on November 4, 2019.
