Five Philippine schools have been listed in the Microsoft Showcase Schools for 2016-2017.
Asia Pacific College, La Salle Green Hills Showcase, De La Salle Santiago Zobel, and De La Salle University Dasmariňas were cited as Showcase schools, while Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila was ranked as an MSFT School.
Microsoft Showcase Schools are part of a global network of schools which lead in the use of technology to improve teaching and learning, leading to empower students to achieve more.
MS Showcase Schools are selected based on the schools’ leadership in digital transformation, the school’s capacity to develop digital learning, inclusion of digital education in teaching and learning, and integration of technology.
Microsoft also released its Innovative Educator Experts list for 2017 which recognizes global educator visionaries.
Included in the Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE) list is DLSU-D’s Jenielyn Padernal, who was featured on the MS site as a global education hero.
The MS Education Ambassador and Business Administration professor in the Lasallian school in Cavite shares with GoodNewsPilipinas.com how the recognition “has changed my life in more ways than one. It has opened not only windows but even doors of opportunities for me to grow and develop as a person both personally and professionally.”
“But more than that, what makes me feel amazing and happy is that, these opportunities are not just for me, I am hopeful and I know, that the inclusion of DLSU-D as Microsoft Showcase School, will also open even more doors and windows of opportunities to all members of the La Sallian community. Every member of the La Sallian family will benefit from this recognition,” Padernal adds.
The citation of the 5 Philippine schools as MS Showcase Schools indicate their emphasis on personalized learning for students with the use of 1:1 learning devices and learning with current technology such as Officer 365 Education, Office Mix, OneNote, Skype, Minecraft, and others.
